I was really lucky to be a member of this band. Great players and singers. I was only in the band for less than year before it disbanded. We were a five piece high energy rock and roll band located in South Florida. The members were Steve Argy on bass, Paul Petitt (Rest in Peace Paul) on keyboards, Sherry Karnes on vocals, Bob on guitar, and me on drums.
I recently saw Sherry, who came to my fathers funeral in Illinois. It was great seeing her again. Same Sherry whom I always loved. Such a warm soul. She gave me a CD with a Lips performance. I also had a copy but it was not in good shape. Here's a taste of what Lips was all about.
Enjoy!
Girl Goodbye by Toto - This was sung by our keyboard player, Paul Petit. What a great song this was to play!
Dixie Highway by Journey - The great Sherry Karnes sang the hell out of this great, little known Journey song!
Fire & Ice by Pat Benatar - Sherry again. Unfortunately this is only a small part of the song.
A Woman Left Lonely by Janis Joplin - Sherry is Janis in this song. Absolutely chilling!
Slack and Whip It by Devo - Steve Argy sings both of these. I love Steve's voice.
Treat Me Right by Pat Benatar - This was a cover of a cover. Benatar covering the great Rascals tune. High Energy!
Planet Claire by B-52's - B-52's. Enough said.
Pearl Necklace by ZZ Top - No comment on the title but Steve sang his ass off. Another fun song!
Heartbreaker by Pat Benatar - Again, anything Sherry touched, she killed on! In a good way of course...
Pump It Up by Elvis Costello - Steve. Only part of this song unfortunately. One of the many great Elvis Costello songs.
Message Of Love by The Pretenders - Fun, fun song to play.
Hell Is For Children by Pat Benatar - Wonder why we did so many? Because Sherry did them so well.
Cars by Gary Numan - We had fun with this odd song. We went for a fusion vibe in the beginning. Self indulgent? Yes.
Hang Fire by the Stones - Steve, kicking ass on the vocals. Great enrgy!
