Day 5. Santa Maria to Lompoc. 42 Miles, 2600' of climbing

Morning of Red Dress Day. I only wore a red scarf and red gloves. It's not that I didn't want to wear a dress, it's because I forgot to bring it. There's always next year I guess.
Rest Stop Two and my friends Lisa (Alfie's better half who rode a fixed gear bike on last years ride) and Ron Marshall, a fellow training ride leader from Oakland. Lisa worked Medical this year as a nurse. Roadies RAWK!
Me with Ron. Ron and his wife rode this year but roadied last year in a sweep vehicle.
And Lisa with me. Lisa is planning on riding next year as well as working in Medical! This year, two doctors rode the ride on their bikes and then would work in the Medical tent after their ride. Truly inspirational!

Riders on their way into Rest Stop Two and I'm on my way our to a big right hand turn and a nice climb. Even though it was a short day, it was not an easy day due to much climbing.
Near the top, Scott again was cheering us on!
And the ever lovingly Eleanor with her megaphone iPod!
Chicken Ladies Chicken at the very top of the climb. It was fitting.
Once we descended, we were in Vandenberg Air Force Base. Last year, we all saw a rocket launch!
The road we were just on. Yup, we're climbing again!
And here it is. I would soon catch up to my friend, Les at the top of the climb.
This guy was probably 6'8" and 270! Very Funny!
Riders headed into lunch as I'm leaving.
Camp at River Park in Lompoc. Les and I would head into town fro fish and chips while Kathryn had to work her magic in the massage tent.
The talent show. This is the Massage Teams performance. Kathryn is holding up the right arm. Sort of a Burning Man vibe.
