Day 3.  King City to Paso Robles. 62 miles, 2600' of climbing

This year this day was 10 miles shorter. We headed for the dreaded "Quad Buster" or as we call it, the QB, a half mile climb at 10%.

Rest Stop One before hitting the QB.

At the way to the QB.

The start of the climb...

At the top..sort of...

Eleanor with her trusty megaphone and iPod. She did this on all the tops of climbs. A true inspiration for us all!

At the top, for real this time.

Rest Stop Two on Jolon Road.

Part of the crew at Rest Stop Two. Too funny!

And more...

Back on Jolon Road in Fort Hunter-Liggett, an active Army base. You will often see tanks training here.

Another supporter out in the middle of nowhere. She doesn't realize how it makes us feel!

Some more climbing headed to Rest Stop Three, which I didn't stop at. I was hungry and wanted to get to lunch in Bradley.

My dear friend, Alfie, who was part of the moto crew on his new (old) Ducati! He rides the ride usually. Last year, him and his significant other, Lisa, rode the AIDS ride on their fixed gear bikes. You can't imagine how tough that is!

Alfie, at work!

A rider ahead of me entering Bradley!

Bradley is a small town near Paso Robles. Every year they role out the welcome bus. They also cook for us and fund raise. ALC is proud to announce, that due to our support of this small town, we've helped put eleven kids through college. We love Bradley!

More of us riding into town.

Parking in Bradley. It was a little early.
